Lukas has the power of empathy. If a person is near him, he knows what they are feeling. |
Lukas, and his twin brother Elias, were born to Robert and Helena in 1980. His sister, Karin, was about five years older then the twins. Their lives were fairly normal really for living in East Berlin. They were a happy family up until 1983, when their father suddenly disappeared. Lukas could never remember much about his father. Only really the sound of his voice, and the feeling a father gives. His mother was reluctant to tell him or his siblings anything about why his father was gone. Just that he left, and that was the end of it. Lukas learned early that an educated argument was the best way to make people think he was smarter than they were. The illusion, of course was much more prominent than the truth. Lukas had earned a reputation for being a smart aleck. Little by little, he began to stop playing with other children, and instead chose to sit away from the others, sometimes with his brother, sometimes in a small group of quieter people. He liked to study people. Things just...stopped affecting him. When the Berlin Wall fell in 1989, people around him were celebrating and he really wasn't quite sure why. He'd gotten something about being free, but he'd already decide he didn't care. He was only nine, and all he really wanted was the newest shiny toy. Really, all the celebrating made him a bit uncomfortable. There were too many people, and it made his head swim. He would not realize for some time yet that it was because he could sense what people feel. For the next couple of weeks, Lukas fell ill. the doctors dismissed it as a bad bout of flu, but Lukas had never thought it was because of that. He wanted to explain away the things that he felt, so he started trying to find ways to describe it, and finally, when he was in his first years of Gymnasium, he found philosopy. He fell to it like a fish in water. Lukas had finally found a way where he could make up a reason for something and call it fact. As long as it made sense, it was plausible! Having philosophy on his side made him a rather arrogant person. All throughout his upper school years, he never had more than two people around him as friends at any given time (excluding family), but he had numerous girlfriends. Girls were warned against going with Lukas, but there were always girls who either didn't listen to warnings or didn't know. All of them ended up with broken hearts. there may even be a support group at this point. Who knows? Soon, he entered University, planning to focus on Philosophy as a main focus of study. His brother would join him there, and really, Elias was the only person he interacted with that he really didn't have to for politeness's sake. Anybody else he was seen with was either an idiot or just plain dense to him. So, when he got a letter in his e-mail box inviting him to the end of the world, the entire computer lab was shocked as Lukas proceeded to laugh for a full half hour. |
Lukas is an apathetic bastard. He says what he wants whenever he wants to, and really doesn't care whose feelings he hurts. Feelings are all a manifestation of one's subconscious fears anyway, aren't they? He has been known to be tactless and to the point, most often playing the Devil's advocate for argument's sake. And he will argue. The only thing he seems to care anything about is Lukas. He'll use women and then leave them, and he doesn't have any real friends. The closest thing he has is the Philosophy club. He doesn't like them as much as they like him. |
Lukas has blonde hair and brown eyes. He tends to slouch and try to look unapproachable and arrogant. He dresses nicely, but usually in browns, blacks, greys and blues. Nobody will ever see him in anything else unless his mum makes him. |
